For Physicians
The DuPage Medical Group evolved from medical practices established by the area's leading physicians in the early 1960's. The group currently consists of more than 280 physicians in 35 medical and surgical specialties - practicing from nearly 40 office locations and providing care to over 25% of the residents of DuPage County.
Someone You Should Know - Robotic Assisted Surgery in Urology
Dr. Mark Fisher from the DMG Department of Urology was an invited speaker at the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates Annual Conference in Chicago on October 4, 2009. He gave a very well received hour lecture on robotic assisted surgery in urology with a specific focus on female pelvic reconstruction and prostatectomy.
Dr. Fisher is one of the robotically trained surgeons at DMG. Robotic assisted laparoscopic female pelvic floor reconstruction is available through both the gynecology and urology departments for several types of prolapse and pelvic floor disorders. Robotic assisted prostatectomy for prostate cancer is available through the urology department.

Research Opportunities
Physicians at DuPage Medical Group have the opportunity to participate in clinical research trials, outcomes research and other research activities. Our physician-investigators are experienced in the successful planning and execution of Phase II, III and IV clinical trials contributing to the development and expansion of indications of novel drugs, biologics, devices and therapeutic interventions.
DuPage Medical Group has established a dedicated Research Department whose goal is to provide physician-researchers with the infrastructure needed to successfully facilitate the administrative and clinical aspects of conducting research. The Research Department helps expedite study-start-up time, improves approval times for contracts and budgets, aids in rapid subject enrollment and ensures quality oversight. This support helps differentiate DuPage Medical Group as a unique community-based practice.
The Group is currently involved in more than 25 clinical trials in internal medicine/family practice, oncology and many specialty areas.

After Hours Care
Responding to the changing needs of our patients, DuPage Medical Group recently created our new After Hours Care clinics. These clinics function like a convenient care enabling both our patients and non-DMG patients to see one of our Primary Care physicians both evenings and weekends, when our offices are closed. Patients 14 years of age and older can be seen at one of our 2 locations in Lombard and Naperville. This avoids lengthy and expensive visits in the hospital emergency rooms for non-emergent situations. DuPage Medical Group has a state of the art electronic medical record. If a patient from one office is seen at the After Hours Clinic, their medical record is available to the examining physician. This allows continuity of their medical care. Follow up evaluations are done seamlessly, with their medical information and tests being immediately available to their Primary Care physician as well as to any specialists that become involved in their care.

Electronic Medical Records
As electronic medical records (EMR) use becomes a high profile issue nationally, DMG is proud to have been a leader in this area by beginning its conversion to an EMR system in 2006. The implementation process has focused on training and supporting the physicians through the conversion without affecting overall productivity. The overall conversion to electronic medical records should be complete in early 2010. DMG’s staff and physicians are using Epic’s ambulatory EMR software for their electronic charting.
DMG's electronic medical records system offers several advantages to the group's physicians. Each DMG patient has one electronic chart with shared information from across the group's resources. All of the details and communication related to primary care or specialty visits with any of DMG’s 250+ physicians can be found in one electronic chart. This includes integration with DMG's extensive imaging resources and also includes an interface with the external lab that processes the majority of DMG patient lab work. So each physician can access the patient's complete medical record quickly and efficiently.
New physicians with DuPage Medical Group can be trained to use the system from their first day with the group. The EMR team is also available for scheduled onsite support during the first few days of using the system. Resources are in place to ensure that a new physician is assisted during the transition to a completely electronic workflow.
