Compassionate care is the focus of Dr. Philip’s philosophy of excellence in medicine. This is at the heart of what led Dr. Philip to be one of the key founders of the DMG hospitalist group. The group is based on a patient centered approach to wellness that emphasizes the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families in accelerating the healing process.
Dr. Philip completed his undergraduate training at Northwestern University, and graduated from medical school at Northwestern University with honors. Dr. Philip completed his residency at the University of Illinois, where he was elected resident of the year for three consecutive years, in recognition of his commitment to excellence in medicine. He was also bestowed with the award for humanistic resident of the year for his focus on patient advocacy.
This is the same vision that led Dr. Philip to Nicaragua and South Africa in pursuing medical relief missions to those without access to healthcare. He is currently working on a program to prevent the transmission of HIV to newborns throughout South Africa, while enabling other DMG hospitalists to be involved in local and international endeavors to promote health and wellness.
His interests include active involvement in his local church, traveling, camping and playing football.
