Melasma is a patchy brown, tan or blue-gray facial discoloration of the skin. It typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead and chin in a mask like pattern. Also known as the pregnancy mask. Melasma appears most common in women 20-50 years of age. Only 10% are men according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
